The Arts District includes the Moores School of Music and Blaffer Art Museum. The campus also has two all-you-care-to-eat dining commons and more than 25 retail dining options; check the university’s dining information for current details.
Sports visitors can look to Cougar Softball Stadium and Schroeder Park. From the Southmore Boulevard area, Schroeder Park is about a 32-minute walk or a 4-minute drive from a two-star hotel in the Southmore area.

Checking university events and visitor access
The university’s visitor guide is a starting point for campus attractions and events, including athletic events, Cullen Performance Hall and the Arts District. Event details and access can vary, so confirm arrangements with the University of Houston before setting out.
For navigation, the campus map works in a web browser or the UH Go app. It offers building search, walking, biking and driving directions, parking zones and garages, METRO stops, accessible entrances and marked construction areas. UH Go also includes the map and real-time shuttle tracking through Cougar Trax.
The campus map and Parking and Transportation Services pages are the university’s sources for parking locations, rates, shuttle information and METRO trip-planning resources. If you plan to use public transit, the guide to planning trips on Houston Metro from the Southmore area covers the local system.

Parking and transit to the campus
Visitors without a valid University of Houston parking permit need to use paid visitor parking. The university says there is no free campus parking, and parking rules are enforced around the clock, including holidays. Visitor parking is available in visitor sections of most garages and in orange-striped pay-by-phone spaces in ungated lots.
In garages, take a ticket when entering and pay by debit or credit card when leaving; some gated visitor sections also accept Apple Pay and Google Pay. At pay-by-phone spaces, pay before leaving your vehicle. Payment applies only to the space’s location, so moving to another visitor area requires a new payment.
UH’s parking information gives garage visitor rates of no charge for the first 15 minutes, $3 for 16–30 minutes, $5 for 31 minutes to 1 hour, $10 for 1–2 hours, $12 for 2–3 hours, $15 for 3–4 hours and $22 for 4–24 hours.
A lost ticket is $44, and the Saturday and Sunday rate is $12. The university says these rates apply at all times, including evenings and weekends.
During high-volume periods, some surface lots may become evening, weekend or event parking areas on weekdays after 4 p.m. and throughout weekends. The event-parking fee is $10, payable by cash or credit card when attendants are present.
On some athletic game days and university-sponsored event days, attendants may not staff these areas; when they are absent, UH directs visitors to visitor garages and meter parking.
Visitors with valid ADA credentials may use ADA spaces in designated visitor parking locations and pay the posted visitor rate. Outside paid visitor areas, ADA spaces require both valid ADA credentials and a valid UH parking permit.
Parking arrangements and rates can change. Check the official site before you go, using the University of Houston Parking and Transportation Services pages for current guidance.

Combining a campus visit with nearby venues
The campus combines arts destinations and sports venues, so you can use the map to plan stops around the reason for your visit. It includes directions between buildings and marked accessible entrances, helping you identify the campus locations you need.
The university’s guide also brings together athletics, Cullen Performance Hall and the Arts District. If your plans include a game or performance, check the relevant university information for event access and parking before you travel.
